Scripture instructs in Psalm 100, a sacred hymn only five verses long, that we are to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. We are to give thanks to Him and bless His holy name!
We conform to this framework not only in worship service, but this structure must be implanted into our daily lives. God is jealous of us, in a righteous and sinless sense—vigorously protecting the integrity of our relationship—and faithful to His covenant, fulfilling His promise of blessings to those who exalt Him. If you are reading these words, you worship Him and are blessed. Give thanks!
God made this day, as He has made every day, so let us rejoice and be glad in it. It doesn’t matter what things look like or what challenges we face. Every earthly day brims with abundant blessings and rampant evil. But if we look, we’ll behold providence sustaining and guiding us even in a fallen world corrupted by sin. Trials are hard but, in the weight and ratio of eternity, only a trifle. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! (2 Cor 4:17 NLT)
Easy to say, yet often hard to bear. For us, at times, impossible. But with God, all things are possible. Have you worried about an outcome that suddenly morphed into the unexpected? That’s God’s hand working in your life. He cares for you and preserves you through all things. I’ve oft said, God promises we’ll come though it. From that, we must infer we’ll go through it. But we win… And for that we should be thankful not only on my favorite holiday, but each and every day. Happy Thanksgiving.
Father, we thank you for making and giving us this day. We put You first in all things as we worship You in spirit and truth. We lift You up with the praises of our songs, and humble ourselves before you. We cannot comprehend nor give utterance to your true majesty. We love you. Amen.
