The Hope of a Divine Future

The world has a saying, “It’s always darkest before dawn.” I remember many occasions waking alone in the mountains well before sunrise, far from any other human, the sky filled with darkness yet aglitter with twinkling lights of promise decorating the enormous black sky.

Soon black illumined to gray, then purple, red, and orange. Finally, the bright yellow-white of the sun showered the earth with its vibrance. Darkness was impotent against the glorious strength of the light.

Each day is a new beginning. However, once per year on December’s last eve, we focus on the newness of a fresh year birthing our future. Christians filled with hope should anticipate this with excitement and expectancy. Having the promise of God’s Providence and blessing, we are truly in a cannot-lose circumstance. Though the enemy, that father of lies, would attempt to have us believe otherwise.

As we enter into this new year, remember we are also entering a new season filled with challenges and triumphs, sorrow and joy, endings and beginnings. But isn’t it amazing that through every circumstance, God has an ultimate plan to prosper us, to prepare a divinely amazing future for us.

Prophecies fulfilled surround us, and God’s love astounds us. While we may see darkness as we peer upon the world, we also see the undimmable light of Jesus. He is the lamp unto our feet, the light upon our path. So long as we follow Him, we’ll make it to our promised destination. The evil in the valley will not move us, for His rod and staff guide us. His brilliance will overcome all opposition.

Thank You, Jesus, for renewal and Your glorious light that banishes the deepest darkness. Let us see always the marvel of Your promises for an amazing future. Amen.
