You Got the Power

We’re definitely not Jesus, with His power over the earth and elements, but we are indeed made in His image and wield His power and authority given to us. While the wind may not calm at our rebuke, demons and unclean spirits faint when we speak the authority of Christ within us. If we are truly disciples, we must steward that power wisely and faithfully to benefit those around us.

Jesus exercised authority over the raging sea, commanding calm so his followers would be unshackled from the fear gripping them, remaining far calmer than the sea would become. In the same manner, we must exercise authority over the things God called us to rule for the benefit of those not as far along, still battling the fear, rejection, and turmoil the world and the enemy would hurl for their destruction.

Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). The authority of God’s love within us should be a beacon and lighthouse guiding the lost to a safe harbor protected by angelic hosts warring for our victory. We who know the victory is already won must comfort and reassure those still in need. God’s love within us must reflect outward, embracing them in warm, spiritual holy arms.

You indeed have the power. Not from who you are but from the Holy Spirit within you—power that gives life, wisdom, perseverance, and blessings. As did Jesus, pass this power along to others, calming their fear, easing their pain, and by so doing bearing them up.

The Holy Spirit is contagious in a wonderfully marvelous way. Help Him spread through close personal contact with those in need. Pass along the power of the divine within you, modeling the deeds of our Lord and Savior.

Lord, keep us reminded always that You live within us and have given us the mission of spreading Your message of love and redemption. Guide us into the proper use of the power You’ve placed within. Amen.
