A Peace of My Mind

Jesus gave us many gifts: forgiveness, love, grace, mercy, wisdom, understanding, and eternal life to be spent in His magnificent presence. But He also generously imparted to us another facet of who He is. Not just peace, but His peace, the peace of God that passes all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds.

The world has fallen lower into darkness as the final battle approaches. Diabolical demons spew evil and chaos throughout the earth. Division devastates nations. Pestilence grips the land. Principalities of satanically swayed governments oppress its citizens. 4.3 million unborn were slaughtered in the womb since the beginning of the year. Good is called evil and persecuted. Evil is deemed good and glorified.

One wonders how we are supposed to have the promised peace in such a turbulent time as this. That is the mystery of God. His thoughts are not like our thoughts, but far above. The human mind thinks in the moment with a restricted viewpoint. God thinks in the eternal knowing all things. Our faith through Christ Jesus allows us to adopt the Godly understanding that regardless of how things may appear, God—and we through Him—will ultimately be victorious over every fallen aspect of this world. We attain peace through the strength of that understanding; God will always bear us up. fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isa 41:10 ESV).

Peace is the absence of fear and anger (which truthfully is but another flavor of fear). As we cling to Jesus, He gives us peace the world will never understand, allowing us to endure all things with hope. Lord Jesus, our hope is in You.

Lord, thank You for peace no matter the circumstances. You are my rock and my salvation. All my trust is in You, not in the things of this world. I shall not be swayed by what I see and hear, but only by what I know. And I know You. Honor and glory forever. Amen.
