Stopping at the Green Light

Have you ever been waiting in an intersection and the car in front of you remains stopped even though the light turned green several moments ago? Doesn’t that drive you (pun intended) crazy? Consider this: Are you also perhaps stopped at an intersection in your life, sitting still with the brake on? Do you think God is troubled when you remain stationary rather than moving forward?

The word “go” appears 1487 times in the New King James version. We serve a moving, not motionless, God. While waiting on God is indeed valid in some circumstances, other times “waiting on God” is simply procrastination within ourselves due to fear, doubt, or laziness. We must examine our motives honestly and rely upon the Holy Spirit to guide us, showing us truly whether the light is red or green.

A song we sing proclaims, “I will go where you want me to go…” This should be our prayer and our promise – that without fear, doubt, or procrastination we will move ahead, trusting God completely to assure completion of the work He has started within us. Whatever our thoughts or emotions, we must never remain stopped when God has given us the green light. His mighty hand will sweep all obstacles from our path, clearing the way to His divine destination.

I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD… (Psa 71:16 NKJ) promises God’s strength will see us through all adversity along the path, so long as we journey toward His destination in His timing. Isaiah 27:4 tells us, Who would set briers and thorns Against Me in battle? I would go through them… Strong words about a strong God who is our strength.

So what color is the light in your life?

Lord, show us when to go and when to remain still according to Your perfect will. Help us accomplish Your divine destiny for our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
