What? Me Worry?

“So, here are all the benefits of worrying: none; nothing; notta one,” according to novelist Byron Pulsifer. And he’s right. This is supported by scripture.

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. –Matthew 6:34

Worry is anti-faith, the stronger belief that something bad will happen rather than believing God will uphold us with the right hand of His righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10)

And without faith it is impossible to please God –Hebrews 11:6. Although understandably human, worry is arguable sinful under the scriptural definition of “missing the mark”. While I realize it’s one of the most difficult battles of the flesh, it’s also one of the most unproductive. And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? –Luke 12:25

Thankfully, God gave us the ability to overcome this when we became His children and began following His statutes.  for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. –2 Timothy 1:7

Trade any worries invading your mind today for increased faith instead. After all, God has brought you through every trial and peril thus far, evidenced by the fact you are reading this right now. If you made it this far, you’ll make it the rest of the way. What God has begun He will certainly complete. (Philippians 1:6)

Lord, Thank you for bearing me up in my weakness and making the way when the way seems absent. Help me to have greater faith by remembering what You have done and that You will never forsake me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
