Got a Little Time for Me?

Scripture is filled with the examples of Abraham, Moses, David, Daniel, and most importantly Jesus spending a tremendous amount of time in prayer, praise, and fellowship with God. And 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 instructs us to do this constantly without ceasing. Moses spent 40 years in the desert twice. And you know prayer and meditation was a large percentage of preparation for the difficult missions that lay before him. Even Jesus wandered the wilderness fasting for 40 days before embarking on the greatest ministry in history.

God loves to fellowship with us. He doesn’t need our company, but He desires that we grow and mature in our faith in preparation for what comes next. God the Father always has in His heart what is best for us because of His great love and wisdom. He will never fail us.

It is my fervent desire that each of us devote ample time to this fellowship of prayer, praise, worship, meditation, and study of God’s holy word so we are shaped further into the image of Christ. It is during those times our minds are renewed and our souls are restored. It is then we are sanctified and edified. It is when God does his greatest work within us.

Return to your secret place often. If you don’t have one, establish one. It’s the greatest investment you’ll ever make. And chances are it’s free. Your secret place can be anywhere you can have time to be quiet and focus on the most important thing in your life. Your soul will be nourished there in ways it will never be so well fed anywhere else.

Lord, thank you for loving me and allowing me to spend time in Your glorious presence. I ask you to give me wisdom and understanding and to make me more like you each and every day.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
