The New Dark Ages

The darkness of the enemy upon the Earth has been present ever since Satan tempted with the forbidden fruit. But in our world today the pace and magnitude have been accelerated as we progress further into the end times.

For some, the thought may be a fearful one. But the true believer knows it is prophecy being fulfilled and as we read scripture we see His promise advancing ever closer—and that builds our faith.

But, people of God, we have a job to do. The world and its inhabitants may be covered with darkness, but we are instead filled with light: glorious light from our Lord within. He is the fire. We are the lamp. It is our job to be the vessels through which His glory is seen. While God is the giver, we are the bringers of radiance to an ebon world that has rejected truth for ear-tickling fable. We illuminate would-be paths to destruction and instead guide toward salvation.

But only if we are the lamp on a stand Jesus spoke of in the gospels.  “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. (Luk 11:33 ESV). Brothers and sisters, do those around you see the light? Or are you perhaps allowing it to remain hidden? Your job is to shine brightly so that all may see. And what a wonderful sight…  If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, (Luk 11:36 ESV).

Brethren, let us be wholly bright. Let there be no part of darkness within. Let us show truth and salvation to a shadowed world. Let us fulfill the destiny that prophecy has called us to. Let us become that beacon of hope to a world dimmed by sin. Let us lead this world back to the only one who can save it.

Lord, You are the light that can never be dimmed, illuminating the darkest of places with your love and splendor. Help us, Lord, to be that lamp You’ve called us to be, drawing the lost toward salvation and hope. Let us always be vessels of Your glory. To You be the honor forever. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
